TAKE ACTION! Tell The Dept of HHS To Stop Government Funding of Gender Ideology
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released a proposed rulemaking titled Nondiscrimination in Health Programs and Activities. These proposed regulations threaten women’s sex-based rights, and they threaten healthcare providers who do not want to provide harmful, unnecessary cosmetic medical interventions under the guise of “gender-affirming care.” Public comments are due by Monday, October 3rd.
The proposed regulations will redefine discrimination on the basis of sex, expanding it so that “gender identity” will be considered a form of sex-based discrimination. Trans activists imply that LGB people and trans-identified people are often denied primary or emergency care, such as treatment for diabetes or broken bones. However, there is no evidence of this being the case in recent decades.
Instead, HHS wants to characterize healthcare providers' refusal to provide "gender affirming" treatments as "discriminatory." "Gender affirming" services include the provision of drugs and hormones for cosmetic purposes, as well as procedures like the surgical removal or mutilation of healthy tissues, organs, and other body parts in order to change a person’s appearance so that he or she resembles the opposite sex.
The proposed changes would affect more than 200 million people in the United States, including people who are involved in Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program, the Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly, group and individual markets, and health insurance exchanges.
If HHS is allowed to include “gender identity” as a form of sex-based discrimination, this means that healthcare providers in all of the above-listed programs will be forced to provide “gender affirming” medical interventions to patients. Doctors, nurses, and other healthcare providers will be accused of discrimination if they refuse to provide these types of services.
Humans are either male or female, regardless of whether they claim to identify as transgender, and sex discrimination laws apply to them accordingly. No healthcare provider should face punishment or discrimination for refusing to comply with demands for harmful, unnecessary “gender affirming” medical treatments. Nor should American taxpayers be required to fund these medical interventions.
Americans deserve a Department of Health and Human Services that relies on science, not political ideology, to define the word sex. Americans deserve to know their healthcare providers will not be coerced into complying with gender ideology. And, Americans’ taxes should not be used to promote and provide harmful, unnecessary, ego-driven medical interventions. Please submit your comments before Monday, October 3rd!
