Women’s Sports Headed To The United States Supreme Court: WoLF Files Amicus Brief in Landmark Cases
The Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF) has filed an amicus curiae brief in two cases now before the U.S. Supreme Court: Little v. Hecox (Idaho) and West Virginia v. B.P.J. These cases will determine whether states may enforce laws ensuring that women’s and girls’ sports remain female-only, or whether male athletes who identify as transgender must be permitted to compete on female teams.
WoLF previously filed briefs in each of these cases at earlier stages: Hecox v. Little in 2020 when it was on appeal in the 9th Circuit, and B.P.J. v. West Virginia in 2023.

WoLF’s FEmInIST LEGAL ARGUMENT: Ignoring the Reality of Sex Harms Women and Girls
The parties themselves, and many amicus filers, discussed the arguments related to sports, so WoLF’s brief here focused more on what courts and much of the media have consistently ignored: males who demand access to female sports and spaces often use that access to harass, intimidate, and sexually threaten women and girls. campaign of sexual intimidation, including repeated threats of rape.
For example, in this very case, testimony from a female teammate describes how the male athlete known as B.P.J. used his place on the girls’ team to subject girls to a “protracted campaign of sexual intimidation”, including:
Offensive sexual comments: B.P.J. frequently told A.C. she had a “nice butt”.
Vulgar, threatening remarks: Two to three times per week, B.P.J. told her (and sometimes other teammates), “suck my d***”
Explicit threats of rape: B.P.J. told her, “I’m gonna stick my d*** into your pu*** … and in your a**,” which she found deeply disturbing and threatening
Context: These comments occurred in the locker room, on the track, and in the discus/shotput pit, often in front of other girls.
Reporting: A.C. reported this behavior to her coach and school administrators, but according to her declaration, nothing changed and B.P.J. faced little or no punishment.
This pattern is not unique. From sorority houses, to spas, to prisons, trans-identifying males have entered female-only environments and used that access to engage in voyeurism, intimidation, and even sexual assault. These are not isolated incidents, but a documented and growing risk when women’s boundaries are dismantled.
Artemis Langford (University of Wyoming sorority case):
Langford, a male admitted into the all-female Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, was accused of using access to female-only spaces to photograph sorority members without consent, leer at them with a visibly erect penis, and ask intrusive questions about their vaginas and breasts. Sorority members have stated that his presence made them feel unsafe and uncomfortable.
WoLF submitted an amicus brief in support of these sorority members in 2023.
Darren Merager (Wi Spa incident, Los Angeles):
Merager, a registered sex offender who claimed a transgender identity, exposed himself in the women’s changing room at Wi Spa, in front of women and girls. Despite video evidence and multiple complaints, media outlets often dismissed the women’s concerns as a “hoax” or “misinformation”.
Tremaine Carroll
(California prison case):
Carroll, a violent male felon, was transferred into a women’s prison after claiming to be transgender. He was later accused of raping two female inmates within a 24-hour period. Tremaine Carroll is represented by the ACLU as an intervenor in WoLF’s lawsuit against California challenging their prison housing policy.
