WOLF SUBMITS COMMENT TO THE FEDERAL TRADE COMMISSION ON “GENDER AFFIRMING CARE”
The Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF) has submitted a public comment in response to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC)’s recent Request for Information (RFI), urging the agency to recognize that the entire “gender-affirming care” industry is based on fraudulent ideas.
Prior to issuing the RFI, the FTC held a public hearing seeking input from a variety of experts and stakeholders on deceptive advertising, marketing, and claims related to so-called “gender-affirming care” (GAC). The RFI focused more on specific experiences and evidence about unsupported claims made to consumers - especially families with minors - regarding puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries marketed as treatments for gender dysphoria.
In our comment, WoLF made clear: any “care” that is premised upon the possibility of sex “change” is inherently fraudulent because sex cannot be changed.
Fraud at the Core
The FTC is charged with enforcing Section 5 and Section 12 of the FTC Act, which prohibit deceptive practices and false advertising. WoLF urged the agency to recognize that when medical professionals, clinics, and pharmaceutical companies market “gender transition” as possible, they are engaging in consumer fraud at its most basic level.
Our comment explains:
Sex cannot be changed. Any product or service advertised as doing so - whether hormones, surgeries, or euphemisms like “reassignment” - is a false claim.
Children cannot provide informed consent. Young people are being misled into permanent sterilization and sexual dysfunction long before they are old enough to understand adult fertility or intimacy.
The harms are unique. No other form of body dysmorphia is treated with surgeries or chemicals that damage healthy body systems.
Girls and Same-Sex-Attracted Youth Targeted by GAC Providers
Our comment also highlights how these practices disproportionately harm girls and same-sex-attracted youth:
Girls are pushed toward blockers and mastectomies at alarming rates. Instead of being taught to respect their bodies, they are told they can opt out of puberty entirely. This is not science - it is marketing.
Same-sex-attracted youth are at risk of “transing away the gay.” Families unwilling to accept a gay child may prefer a “transgender” one. Clinics and advocacy groups have encouraged this, turning homophobia into a medical pathway.
Detransitioners are silenced. Studies show many who undergo GAC later regret it, yet these voices are excluded from research and public debate. Ignoring them hides evidence that would otherwise protect children from harm.
As WoLF stated: “It is pure eugenicism for our society to accept that the solution for distress experienced by gender-nonconforming young people is chemical castration and removing their healthy sex organs.”
WoLF’s Call to Action
WoLF urged the FTC to fulfill its mandate by recognizing that deceptive claims about “changing sex” are consumer fraud with devastating consequences. Children deserve evidence-based care, not experimental procedures sold through false promises.
