WoLF’s Commitment to Women’s Reproductive Freedom

WoLF unapologetically supports reproductive freedom for womeN.

Reproductive freedom includes, but is not limited to, women’s rights to abortion and birth control for any reason, and freedom from coerced sterilization, abortion, and birth control. We fight against surrogacy and the commodification of women’s reproductive systems. We promote the visibility of midwives and doulas, and we encourage women’s knowledge and self-care of their bodies; this includes promoting informed consent for women when they receive healthcare. We speak out against women’s mistreatment and lack of adequate treatment in healthcare systems.

WoLF is firmly committed to women having complete autonomy over all aspects of their bodies, including their reproductive systems. This includes access to safe and legal abortions. We share the sorrow, anger, and outrage felt by the hundreds of millions of American women who oppose the Supreme Court’s decision to revoke 50 years of meaningful access to abortion in more than half of the states. All of WoLF’s board members, staff members, and advisory council members are female. We personally understand the fear, distress, and anxiety that this Supreme Court decision has caused women and girls all over the United States. Like all of the hundreds of millions of female human beings in our country, we know what it is like to fear unintended pregnancies.

We understand the multitude of ways that unwanted pregnancies harm women’s lives.

Women deserve total and absolute freedom and autonomy over their bodies.

We already know that the male founders of our country did not take into consideration the needs, desires, and goals of women when they crafted the Constitution. In the year 2022, it is well past time for every leader in our country to rise up in defense of women and women’s rights and remedy the continuing injustices caused by our country’s patriarchal founders. We are furious as we see how men (and some women) continue to use women’s bodies as pawns in their political games. Regardless of whether or not abortion was explicitly mentioned in the US Constitution by the all-male group who created that document, the fact remains that women are people who deserve control over their own bodies

Former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg stateD:

“The decision whether or not to bear a child is central to a woman’s life, to her well-being and dignity. … When government controls that decision for her, she is being treated as less than a fully adult human responsible for her own choices.”

Here at WoLF, we recognize women’s humanity. We recognize women’s inherent worth as people who are fully capable of making decisions about their own bodies. We recognize women as full human beings who should and must, be viewed and treated as valuable, intelligent, and capable of making decisions for themselves, without interference from men or women who want to impose personal, political, or religious agendas upon their bodies.

We stand in solidarity with all women regardless of their reproductive choices.

We stand in solidarity with all women who know that they are intelligent beings worthy of dignity and respect. We stand in solidarity with all women who simply ask to be treated like human beings.

Reproductive freedom is one of WoLF’s four focus areas. We are horrified by, and completely oppose, the Supreme Court’s decision to revoke one of women’s most fundamental and basic human rights. However, we will continue to focus most of our time and efforts on fighting gender ideology. We understand how frustrating this is for some of our members and supporters, and we encourage you to read more about our strategic decision to focus our resources on abolishing gender ideology.

Unfortunately, because large national abortion rights groups (as well as many smaller agencies) have been completely co-opted by gender ideology, we cannot recommend that you support or become involved with those groups. Many of these groups now prioritize the promotion of trans ideology and unnecessary, harmful medical interventions on women and girls, rather than actually focusing on women’s rights.

We do encourage you to become actively involved in fighting for women’s reproductive rights at the local, state, or national level – whichever level you feel most comfortable with. If you want to help WoLF expand its reproductive autonomy efforts, there are four ways you can become involved:

  1. Volunteer to expand and improve our Reproductive Sovereignty webpage. This will include compiling a list of pro-woman reproductive rights resources and websites.

  2. Join WoLF’s new Volunteer Policy Team to help us lobby and educate legislators about why reproductive rights are such an urgent issue for women and girls. This could include submitting your own testimony on bills that affect reproductive rights, as well as contacting lawmakers to educate them about WoLF and how we can serve as a resource for them.

  3. Fundraise for WoLF. Host a Party with a Purpose to educate your friends and community members about WoLF and how we fight for women and girls.

  4. Donate to WoLF. There are many different ways to philanthropically support WoLF. Your support will help us advance our mission of protecting, advancing, and restoring the rights of women and girls.
