Broad Coalition Backs Women’s Rights in Chandler v. Macomber: New Amicus Briefs Filed

Earlier this month, we filed the opening brief in our appeal of Chandler v. Macomber. Several organizations have submitted amicus (friend-of-the-court) briefs in support of our plaintiffs:

The fact that people around the world, and advocates for women across the political spectrum, all recognize the importance of this issue only highlights the fact that this is not a political issue. It is a matter of protecting incarcerated women’s safety, dignity, and privacy.

This shows why this case has significance beyond these specific plaintiffs and California itself. The consequences of the Ninth Circuit’s decision will extend beyond parties in this case.

The defendants and intervenors have until the end of October to respond to the appeal.
