Take Action Today! SUPPORT SEX-BASED FEDERALLY FUNDED SHELTERS!

This is an opportunity to ensure women have sex-based federally funded homeless and domestic violence shelters if they need them! 

Public feedback is important!

This policy would require people accessing federally funded homeless or domestic violence shelters to use facilities according to their biological sex. This means women’s shelters would be exclusively designated for women, as they should be!

The deadline is June 29, 2026. Please send your comments now before you forget. Be sure to include the phrase “FR-6518-P-01 Equal Access to Housing in HUD Programs Revisions” in your comments.

Your comments, but not personally identifying information, will be part of the public record. However, you can remain anonymous or use a pseudonym and/or throwaway email address if you want.

If you have accessed federally funded housing, rape crisis, or domestic violence services, consider sharing your experiences with HUD (The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development), specifically your experiences with women-only spaces - were you able to find them in your area? If you have had difficulty locating women-only housing or support services, make sure HUD knows!
