An Entry for WoLF’s Letters to Girls Series

Dear Young Sisters,

In the Zebra family the young ones recognize their mother by the pattern of her stripes. They memorize it so they won't forget and will always find her in times of need and in times of confusiong chaos.

I want you to know that those of us who believe in a stronger version of feminism care very much about you and your future. So much so that we work to find ways to help you never lose sight of us. So you can see our pattern and never lose your way. We want you to have that pattern burned into your memory so you will never wonder where we are -- so you will spot us immediately.

You will always recognize us by our patterns. We are against pornography and are for the development of strong and confident girls and women. We believe in your right to female only spaces and for safe environments that foster your growth. We are determined to pave the way for your safety in bathrooms, locker rooms, school dorms, and in relationshis so that you can be all that your potential is capable of being.

If you keep your gaze steady, you will recognize us and see us all around you, working to keep you safe, and you will see our pattern of consistent and persistent action to pave the way for you to be recognized as the important and valuable aspects of the human race that you are.

You will spot us easily, see the familiar stripes of our wisdom from years of fighting oppression and sexism, and like the Zebra always finding its mother, you will always find us naturally (intuitively) in a confusing world of black-and-white thinking that, though determined to blur the view and leave you stranded in a maze of psychological confusion, will never separate your ability to find us.

While you are young, may the imprinting and our steady actions help you to never forget the herd you belong to.

Keep your eyes stright ahead and steady. There are Zebras all around you.
