A Future I Shouldn't Have To Fear
An entry for WoLF’s “Letters to Girls” Series

Dear WOLF
My name is --------- and I'm right about to go into high school. I like to read current events and some of the stuff I've been reading about makes me sad for so many different reasons.
One of the biggest things is reading about women all over our country that don't have full control over their bodies anymore. I want abortion rights back for every woman in America. I don't understand why this is so hard to understand for other people- why should it be some lawmaker in Washington DC who decides what my fellow women do with their bodies. Those people are allowed to have their own views, but the forcing of views that directly align with faith-based ideology on all people is completely unacceptable.
Are these people really saying that because their values forbid it, any woman who doesn't want her body to do something and takes actions to stop it is a criminal? So if I lived in one of those states and I was r*p*d I'd be forced to keep this baby as a 13 year old?
The idea of this is horrible- Roe v Wade was an accomplishment for a reason. Abortion rights should be amended into the constitution because America cannot call itself a free nation if it restricts the rights of half of its population over something intimately personal.
Her body, her choice. What about that is so hard to understand?
I think that your work to give back freedom to women is really inspirational.
Sincerely,
AS
