“In solidarity with Rachel Damiano and Katie Medart... This design is riffing iconic imagery from Britney Spears' Work Bitch music video along with her current controversy involving free speech/expression and autonomy.” - Artist

In 2013, Britney Spears filmed the video for “Work B**ch” (screenshotted below) while under the legal control of her father, who had long been accused of abusing his power over her for his own gain, forcing her to work against her will. A recent court appearance by Britney, herself, finally confirmed this speculation. She told the court:

“I worked seven days a week, no days off, which in California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking — making anyone work, work against their will, taking all their possessions away.”

This work draws a comparison between the patriarchal and capitalist abuse and silencing Britney Spears endured at the hands of men in exchange for access to her own wealth to the threat of firing women like Rachel Damiano and Katie Medart face when speaking out about “gender identity.” Learn more about their case here.
