WoLF’s Fond Farewell to Lierre Keith & Kacie Moon!

WoLF's founder, Lierre Keith, and 2023 President, Kacie Moon, have successfully concluded their board terms. We bid them a fond, heartfelt farewell! Their unbreakable commitment to women and girls has played an integral role in advancing WoLF's mission to restore, protect, and advance sex-based rights.

Lierre and Kacie have demonstrated exceptional leadership, passion, and unwavering dedication in their roles as board officers. They fearlessly went to the frontlines, often at great personal cost, to drive the feminist resistance to gender ideology, commercial sexual exploitation, and male violence.

We want to share their farewell speeches with you:

FROM LIERRE KEITH

Ten years ago, I invited a small group of women to northern California to talk about forming a radical feminist organization. “Our individual efforts are not enough,” I implored. “We need to stand our ground and organize to fight back.”

And we did. We formed WoLF, we stood our ground, and we’ve been fighting back, strategically and fiercely, ever since, gathering up more sisters, more skills, and more resources along the way. Enough to file both briefs and lawsuits. Enough to testify before legislators against legalizing prostitution and putting men in women’s prisons. We’ve appeared on national television and said the words “radical feminism” to millions of women. We’ve put on gatherings to grow our sisterhood and organized public events to defy the men who aim to silence us. We’ve done an amazing job trying to wrench some liberation from the grip of male supremacy.

“With every wave of fatigue, one needs another platoon of strong, tough women coming up over the horizon to take more land, to make it safe for women,” wrote Andrea Dworkin. “I'm willing to count the inches.” Counting the inches starts with never giving an inch. This requires the stalwart courage that every one of you possesses. These are the inches we will never give. Men can not become women and “transgender” ideology is misogynist nonsense. Pornography isn’t “empowering” and prostitution is paid rape. And “abortion on demand and without apology” are six words from which you will never budge. Born female, we were all born on a battlefield--only it’s more like a slaughter, a slaughter so relentless we can’t even collect our wounded. Those are the facts, and you, like me, have faced them without defeat, or you wouldn’t be reading this. And you joined WoLF because you intend to take that horizon.

The heart of WoLF beats solid and true. I’m writing this letter to tell you that I’m leaving the WoLF board to take a different, more forward-facing role in the organization. The current board is one reason I know that the Goddess is alive and wants us to win: they are all brave and brilliant women, and they are ready to start counting the inches, too.

I’ll see you all on the front lines!

In Sisterhood,

Lierre

From Kacie Moon

Seven years ago I joined the Women’s Liberation Front as a volunteer. I wanted to lend my design skills however I could. Little did I know how essential and deeply embedded WoLF would become to the fabric of my life. One thing led to another, and soon I was meeting members in person, writing and giving testimony, organizing in DC, and eventually invited to join the board. I knew there was something special here, but that this budding ember could easily go out without careful fanning. I hoped I was up for the task.

During my tenure, WoLF grew tremendously. What started out as a small, scrappy working-board has blossomed into a mean, lean women’s rights machine. While on the board, I strived to keep WoLF true to our mission and unyielding in our feminist values. We hired staff, increased capacity, solidified our internal infrastructures, and expanded the reach and impact of our work.

And yet, in many ways, WoLF is just getting started!

I feel hopeful of what WoLF can achieve, leading the charge not only back to the previous reach of women's rights, but past it, towards a dream not yet achieved. A world where male violence is not as commonplace as litter, but rather shockingly unacceptable, seen for the horror it is. A society that has no appetite for buying women and children or watching their degradation. A culture that does not indoctrinate girls and boys from birth into rigid gender roles. Where lesbians thrive, never questioning their bodies, worth, or love. Where women and girls across the world unite, not stopping until we’ve achieved full liberation.

It’s a long road from here to there. But if anyone can forge a path, it’s WoLF. Every day, I see more supporters and Sisters in Action stepping up to the call. Together, we can do anything.

Nearly a quarter of my life has passed since I first joined the Women’s Liberation Front. I hope that shows how near and dear the organization is to my heart. The work was not always easy, but I can think of no better feminist group to have been a part of.

One day I hope to serve again. Until then, I proudly pass the torch knowing it’s in the best of hands. Thank you, WoLF, for the wonderful experience, the sisterhood, and for making the world brighter for women and girls.
