Democratic Representatives, Intimidated by Trans activists, Cancel Meetings with WoLF
Who’s afraid of women who want to talk about our rights? Some Democratic representatives, apparently.
Women’s Liberation Front is heading to DC to meet with Congressional representatives and discuss women’s rights. Our supporters helped us book those meetings, as representatives are usually willing to meet with their constituents. We sent out an email blast update on the meetings we’d booked.
Within hours, Senator Schiff’s team cancelled our meeting with him, scheduled, for May 20th. They cited ‘scheduling conflicts’, but didn’t offer to reschedule. Thursday morning, Representative Kamlager and Ross both cancelled, offering no explanation. Representative Raskin followed shortly thereafter.
Perhaps it has something to do with this post on X from a reporter for the Hill that only covers LGBTQ+ issues:
We also received this email from her:
Hi there,
I hope this message finds you well! This is Brooke Migdon with The Hill.
I'm reaching out to clarify some information that was in an email blast from WoLF yesterday. It said that several members of Congress had agreed to meet with WoLF in Washington next week, including more than a dozen Democrats.
Two of those Democrats, Reps. Sydney Kamlager-Dove and Deborah Ross, told me they do not have meetings scheduled with WoLF. And the offices of Rep. Raskin and Sens. Schiff, Duckworth and Fetterman said they have nothing planned with the group (on the member or staff level).
Could you clarify whether the information in that email is accurate? Thank you in advance.
Best,
Brooke Migdon

@bmigdon
It looks like another prominent trans reporter picked up on it as well, and called the representatives, and then emailed us this:
Hi Sharon + the rest of the WoLF team,
Did WoLF Make False Claims?
I am a reporter reaching out in regards to a recent email sent out by your organization, saying you were meeting with certain congresspeople and senators, including Democrats.
I have been told by multiple sources that meetings with many of these Democrats are not scheduled. I am working on getting final on the record confirmation/wording but wanted to give you as much time to respond as I can.
Do you have any verification, such as emails, that would confirm your meetings with any of the Democratic lawmakers? If they were being dishonest with me about their scheduled meetings, it would be important for me to clarify that for readers.
Please let me know by 4pm EST. Thank you.
Best,
S. Baum

Hi (WoLF Supporter),
Thanks for reaching out! Are you and your colleagues able to meet on May 20 at 1:30p.m.? This would be outside of Rep. Raskin’s DC office in Rayburn 2242.
If that works for you, could you send a calendar invite to confirm?
Best,
Julia

Look forward to it.
Why the sudden cancellations?
We can guess what happened. Someone forwarded our email to these two reporters and they started calling the representatives about meeting with us. One can easily imagine how those calls went. How dare a Democrat meet with a women’s rights organization that doesn’t believe men can be women!
Our response:
“Congressional representatives fleeing in terror from meeting with women only confirms what women already know: there is a direct conflict with women’s rights from the transgender movement, and transgenderism is considered supreme over women’s rights by the orthodoxy,” said WoLF Executive Director Sharon Byrne, a constituent of Senator Schiff.
“Constituents booked these meetings because they want their representatives to listen to women. When, as a representative, you say you are an LGBTQ+ ally, but you refuse to meet with lesbians, who are you allied with, exactly? When you tell us you care about women’s rights, but say any man can be a woman, and women and girls must accommodate them, or be called bigots, then you don’t care about women’s rights at all.
If you are too afraid to meet with your constituent on women’s rights….should you really hold US Congressional office? ”
Irene Lawrence, Board Member of Women's Declaration International USA, Inc. (WDI USA), was looking forward to meeting with her Representative, Deborah Ross, to find common ground on women's rights beyond abortion access. Irene was prepared to discuss the importance of women-only spaces and prevention of violence against women, using clear, reality-based language.
“Too bad Representative Ross canceled. Too bad she considers women-only spaces and violence by men against women to be too controversial to discuss."
WoLF will be hosting a drop-in meet and greet in room 215 in the Dirksen Senate Office Building on May 19th from 10 AM to 1 PM. We invite ALL representatives and their staff members to drop in and speak with us. We’re feminists, and we’re very friendly, open and happy to speak with everyone about women’s rights. Encourage your rep to come meet with us!
For the representatives too afraid to meet with us, here’s a chicken for ya’, with love!
Take Action!
Tell your Representatives and Senators to stop being a chicken and meet with WoLF!
