Announcing Staff and Board Changes

A letter from Lierre Keith,
WoLF founder and Board Chair

Dear WoLF members, supporters, friends, and allies,

Since the founding of Women’s Liberation Front nearly a decade ago now, I have watched the organization experience many seasons of change. I have had the pleasure of working with many talented, dedicated, and passionate feminists who continue to inspire me. I have seen the hard work of a tireless team of women pay off time and time again and watched as thankless behind-the-scenes work influenced policy in ways that many people may never know. I have seen what started off as a fledgling group of volunteers transform, in what feels like the blink of an eye, into a professional organization that is a force to be reckoned with.

In the past year, WoLF has experienced unprecedented growth as we rise to meet the current threat to the rights of women and girls. Throughout this process, our staff and board have evolved to help the organization achieve the new standard of professionalism and solidarity that this movement demands of us. We have hired six new staff members in the past six months alone, and begun the slow and painful process of growing our organizational capacity to help us compete on the national stage against opponents who are many, many times larger and better funded.

As part of this period of growth, I am very sad to announce that WoLF is parting ways with long-term board member and Executive Director, Natasha Chart, as well as April Halley, who recently served on the WoLF board.

The entire WoLF team, along with many in the movement, are endlessly grateful for Natasha’s years of tireless dedication and service to the cause in her time at WoLF. She has led us into a brighter place, not just for WoLF, but for women across the country. As a dear friend of mine, I personally and sincerely wish Natasha the best in her future endeavors.

Moving forward, WoLF will be launching an Executive Search Committee to assist the team in identifying and hiring a new Executive Director to lead our growing and capable team into the next phase of our organization’s life cycle.

As the most recent chapter in WoLF’s history comes to a close, we reflect on both the successes and failures of our past. During this period of transition, we hope to mend broken bonds, establish and build new connections with our allies in the movement, and help lead women and girls to a better tomorrow together.

In the coming days and weeks, we will be updating the community on exciting actions we are working on and how you can get involved. We’ll also be speaking to many of our stakeholders, donors, volunteers, and partners to collect feedback and establish a clear transition plan for our ongoing work together.

The rights of women and girls in this country are facing an unprecedented threat in the United States right now and, today, WoLF is in a stronger position than ever to face down this threat. Every person who has contributed to WoLF in the past ten years is to thank for that — whether that be as a volunteer, donor, staff, board member, or even by simply being engaged with us by sharing our calls to action or signing a petition. We are grateful for all of you, and excited to show you what we have in store for the future.
