I Am Part Of an Underground Network of Therapists Treating Detransitioners

“It’s the most devastating epidemic I’ve witnessed in my lifetime.”

I am a clinical psychologist in practice where there is a high population of youth seeking medical transitions. These are kids who are unwell otherwise, with autism, or depression, many are adoptees. In my practice where I supervise interns, I have seen so many kids be transitioned, as supported by their parents, doctors and therapists, and they are NOT better. I have now seen young adults come back with regrets. It’s devastating. All access to puberty blockers, hormones and medical transitions must be removed. No minor can understand the lifelong damage they cause. (The FDA must not turn its back on the potential harm to children from continued use of puberty blockers, which have known risks and unproven benefits.)

But what’s more, it’s been overwhelmingly disappointing to see so many smart therapists (and parents and teachers) swept up in this ideology, without allowing themselves to think critically. I have now been censored and have lost several friends. I continue to be part of an underground network of therapists who see desisters and detransitioners on a sliding scale. It’s the most devastating epidemic I’ve witnessed in my lifetime. I’m doing what I can but am also preserving my identity as I run a practice and am an author and if I’m cancelled I’ll lose my livelihood. Thanks for all you do.
