WoLF Voices Opposition to Biden’s “LGBTQI+” Executive Order

On June 15, Women’s Liberation Front (WoLF) and Family Policy Alliance (FPA) released a joint statement in opposition to President Biden’s “Advancing Equality for LGBTQI+ Individuals” Executive Order.

WoLF is the nation’s largest radical feminist, non-partisan, non-profit agency fighting against gender ideology. WoLF represents women of every political affiliation and belief system. FPA is a Christ-centered public policy and education ministry dedicated to the vision of a nation where God is honored, religious freedom flourishes, families thrive, and life is cherished.

WoLF is extremely concerned about a multitude of misleading and inaccurate messages included in the Executive Order, including the following issues:

  • The Executive Order merges lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) people into the same category with transgender-identified people.

These two groups of people are not the same; they do not have the same needs, experiences, or political agendas. Sexual orientation is not the same as “gender identity.” Increasing numbers of LGB people are voicing their concerns and anger at the continuing conflation of sexual orientation and “gender identity.” The needs and experiences of LGB people are unique, and should not be conflated with the political goals of transgender-identified people. WoLF represents thousands of lesbians and bisexual women across the nation; we stand alongside same-sex attracted women who deserve to be recognized.

  • The Executive Order does not provide a definition for “conversion therapy.”

Types of conversion therapy for LGB people might be very different than so-called conversion therapy for people who identify as transgender. All Americans deserve access to high-quality, ethical counseling services to help them heal from their mental health challenges. This means that counselors should never promote political ideologies like "gender affirming treatment." All counseling clients should be treated with dignity and respect; this means that counselors should help their clients critically examine how social pressures and political ideologies might be influencing their clients’ beliefs and self perceptions.

  • Unnecessary, life-altering, permanent medical procedures are not “medical care” or “health care.”

The Biden administration is promoting interventions and procedures such as cross-sex hormones, puberty-blocking drugs, double mastectomies, radical hysterectomies, castration, and penectomies for children, adolescents, and adults of all ages. These types of interventions and procedures have harmful, long-lasting, and often permanent effects, including loss of fertility and loss of sexual pleasure. Children and adults are being psychologically manipulated into believing that they “need” these procedures – these vulnerable victims are then affected for the rest of their lives. It is absolutely reprehensible and unethical for the Biden administration to pretend that completely unnecessary medical procedures are “health care.”

  • The Biden administration is sexualizing children:

The use of phrases like “LGBTQI+ children” directly contributes to the sexualization of children. Unless they have experienced sexual abuse or have been exposed to pornography, children do not think about sexual behavior or sexual orientation until they start puberty. Children do not experience any kind of sexual attraction, whether it is heterosexual, bisexual, or homosexual attraction. We are gravely concerned that the Biden administration is sexualizing children.

We are deeply disheartened that the Biden administration has characterized agencies like WoLF as “bullies.” Our volunteers, members, staff, and board devote our time, energy, and resources to fight to protect the safety, well-being, and health of women and girls throughout the United States. We invite President Biden to sit down with us and our members – many of whom are lesbian and bisexual women, and many of whom are parents – to have a thoughtful discussion about why so many Americans, of all political affiliations, oppose the harms caused by gender ideology.
