Re: Loudoun County Virginia School Board’s Policy on Single-Sex Spaces

Dear Loudoun County Virginia School Board,

We are the two leading radical feminist activist organizations operating in the United States. Our understanding is that the board is poised to obliterate single-sex spaces in schools throughout Loudoun County, Virginia. If this is correct, we are appalled and disgusted at the direction in which the county is headed.

The Women’s Human Rights Campaign works to promote the Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights, which re-affirms women’s and girls' sex-based rights, and challenges the discrimination we experience from the replacement of the category of sex with that of ‘gender identity.’” It has been signed by over 18,000 individuals from 137 countries, in collaboration with 344 organizations. The Women’s Liberation Front fights at the front line of feminism. It works to protect, advance, and restore the rights of women and girls. Together, we will not tolerate the obliteration of single-sex spaces.

Jolene Grover said it best when she said this to you earlier this month:

“Everyone knows what a boy is, even you. Your proposed policies are dangerous and rooted in sexism.“

She is absolutely right and if you go forward with this policy, you will be on the wrong side of history.

The provision of single-sex spaces also has broad public support, as this poll demonstrates. If you obliterate them in Loudon County schools, you will be doing so against the will of the majority of Americans.

The Declaration on Women’s Sex-Based Rights re-affirms women’s sex-based rights, including the elimination of all forms of discrimination against women and girls that result from the replacement of the category of sex with that of “gender identity.” Girls deserve privacy from boys, including boys who claim to “identify as girls.” So-called “gender identity” is a regressive movement to sanctify the destruction of everything that feminists have fought for. Women fought hard for the right to female-only facilities like bathrooms, changing rooms, and locker rooms so that girls like Jolene could have privacy. Don’t let her down now.

We stand with Jolene and other girls who are fighting to protect single-sex spaces, and we fight for girls who have been silenced and who are afraid to speak out. We urge you to vote down this proposed policy change.

Sincerely,

Kara Dansky
