From Two Grandmothers
“As a lesbian and woman I am furious that public schools are teaching trans ideology.”
I am a lesbian grandmother raising two grandchildren for ten years. My 13 year old granddaughter has been trying on genders like outfits for the past year. Now she declares she's a boy and reported to her pediatrician that she was suicidal. She had just completed a mental health evaluation that included questions like have you ever felt suicidal. The pediatrician marched us over to the hospital next door and she was admitted to the ER. Crisis intervention occurred and CPS was called. They took her away from me because I refused to call her by her pronouns and say she's a boy. They removed her over gender dysphoric behaviors. We had talked about the trans issues and had exchanged internet stories and on my side tales of regret by many girls who had parents who supported transition.
I do not and I thought she was on the same page. I told her many times that I love her and when she turned 18 and still had these feelings she could do what she wanted but until then no chest binding or hormones. I was blind sighted by the authority that could allow a child to self ID. Our family is divided by my younger daughter who calls my belief in biology and the need for council as bigotry. As a lesbian and woman I am furious that public schools are teaching trans ideology. A week later our family is destroyed and her nine year old brother told me he saw her coming out of the boys bathroom at the middle school. I worry for her safety. My heart is broken.
Two years ago I was at the council swimming pool with my two grand daughters. When we went into the women’s showers there was a full bodied male in there. I was in a hurry to get my granddaughters out without causing a scene so we left. We have never been back. I wish I had called the police. There’s no point complaining to the council because it’s all in line with their policy on inclusion and I would be accused of bigotry. This man did not attack us physically but scared us and because of him I cannot take the girls swimming anymore.
