A Mother’s Concern For Her Daughters

As a woman with daughters, I’m concerned about the elimination of sex segregation in changing rooms, locker rooms & bathrooms in schools, work places, and public facilities.

In my experience, the majority of trans identifying people use single or gender neutral facilities for their own comfort and privacy, as well as for others’.

However, when I voice the general desire for women-only toilets, I’m routinely accused as a bigot and told people aren’t harmed in toilets.

While this is demonstrably untrue, as there’s been multiple instances of sexual abuse by men in women’s restrooms, I wonder at the dismissal of my desire for privacy for my bathroom activities.

Am I a non-person without desires? How dare I have requests that counter that of the mythical beleaguered trans woman?

The accusations and the shaming is always there; the punishment is swift. I’m to step in line, let all the men in, and women are often, sadly, the most rapid enforcers.
